Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has again called on the US Congress to make Ukraine a no-fly zone. He addressed about 300 Congress MPs through video links.
Zelensky also demanded a ban on oil purchases from Russia and the provision of Russian-made fighter jets to compete with the Russian military. He said Ukrainian pilots knew how to operate the aircraft.
In response, Senate leader Chuck Schumer said the Biden administration would help send him from Eastern Europe. Zelensky drew the attention of members of Congress to the need for additional military assistance and humanitarian assistance. However, the US Senate has rejected two of his requests.
First, his demand for a “no-fly zone” has been rejected, saying it could open the door for NATO member states to engage in direct combat with Russia.
