The US to impose sanctions on Russian oil imports President Joe Biden is set to announce today that he will suspend Russian oil imports to the United States.
According to the White House, Biden is scheduled to address the nation on Tuesday. The United States has imposed sanctions on Moscow in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
US lawmakers have been pushing for Biden to halt Russian oil imports.
In Europe, too, there have been calls for a ban on Russian oil imports. However, Russia has threatened to cut off gas supplies if oil is cut off. Russia supplies 45 percent of Europe’s gas.
Russia’s fuel supply has been cut off due to the war, which could affect the world economy. Countries in the West are trying to find an alternative to Russian fuel.
US officials have recently arrived in Venezuela, where they have imposed sanctions, to discuss oil imports.
