However, the Russian team has arrived in Beijing with the intention of participating in the game. Russia’s athletes were scheduled to compete under the auspices of the Russian Paralympic Committee after a ban was imposed on them over alleged state involvement in the use of banned drugs.
Authorities are still under pressure from other sports governing bodies to ban the Russian team. The opening ceremony of the Beijing Paralympics will be held on Friday and the competitions will be held from Saturday.
