The Russian military has said it will allow the Ukrainian capital Kyiv to evacuate safely.
Authorities in Moscow have said they will allow Kyiv residents to head safely to the city of Vasilkiv, the BBC reported.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov offered a safe passage, giving the latest details about the encroachment on television. “There will be no impediment on the part of the Russian military to allow civilians to leave,” Konashenkov said.
But since the Russian invasion began a year ago, Vasilkiv has been hit by heavy shelling. According to the United Nations, some one million people have fled Ukraine.
