Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the Ukrainian army to seize power. Addressing a Security Council meeting, Putin called on the Ukrainian army to take power from Zelensky’s government.
“I urge once again the military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces not to allow neo-Nazi and Ukrainian extremist nationalists to use their children, wives, and the elderly as human shields,” Putin said.
Putin has used the term “neo-Nazi” to ridicule the Ukrainian government. Ukrainian President Zelensky, who is Jewish, has rejected the term.
“Take power, it will be easier to reach an agreement,” Putin told the Ukrainian army.
Putin’s remarks came hours after Zelensky called on his country’s military to defend its territory in the midst of a Russian invasion.
“Stay strong, you are everything we have,” the Ukrainian leader told the army while addressing the nation in military uniform.
