A number of explosions were heard as the Russian special forces entered the second day of a special operation in the Ukrainian capital, local media reported on Friday.
Russia claims to have ordered a special military operation to “protect” the people of the Donbas region after Putin on Monday recognized the separate Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states. Many countries, including Britain, the United States, Canada, and the European Union, have condemned Russia’s military action and imposed sanctions against Russia.
