At least 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed so far in clashes with Russian troops, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said.
He made the remarks at a press conference in the capital, Kyiv. According to him, about 500/600 Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainian army on Friday.
Western sources estimate that at least 6,000 Russian soldiers have been killed so far this Friday. President Zelensky told a news conference that Russian troops could not capture the people and that the capture of the city was temporary.
Meanwhile, President Zelensky said Russia should be ashamed of the abduction of the mayor of the southern Ukrainian region of Melitopol. Ukrainian authorities have claimed that a group of 10 people kidnapped Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov.
Ukrainian officials say he was abducted after Mayor Ivan refused to help the enemy. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zhelenski has said that the Russian military has acted like an ISIS terrorist.
