
Ashnir Grover, co-founder of India’s popular digital wallet Bharatpe, and his family have been accused of embezzling company money. In a statement issued on Wednesday, BharatPe said Grover and his family had been found guilty in an investigation by the company’s board.
According to the company, Grover and his family were found to have unnaturally used money from the company’s account and transferred money to other accounts. The statement added that Grover and his family had made fake businessmen and transferred money from the company’s account in the name of paying them.
It is said that his family used the company’s money for his luxurious life. The decision was taken at a board meeting held on Tuesday.
Grover, who has been embroiled in controversy for some time, resigned from the company at midnight on Tuesday. He submitted his resignation to the board at midnight on Tuesday, saying he had sacrificed a lot for the company, including management stock worth Rs 100 crore.
Shortly after his resignation, he told The Economic Times that the company had also cheated him. Grover said that he had to give up the management stock amount of 100 million Indian rupees due to him and the company killed him by cheating 120 million Indian rupees from the employee share of his wife Madhuri Jain.
His wife Jain was also fired by the company on January 23 for embezzling funds from the company’s fund. Jain had been working as a controller in India.
